PASIGHAT, Oct 11: The scholars, writers, critics and novelists of Hindi literature from across the country came together in JN College Auditorium in a two days long literary seminar held on the topic Agyeya Aur Hindi Sahitya to pay homage one of the foremost figures of Hindi literature, Sacchidanand Hiranand Vatsyayan, popularly known as Agyeya’ on Oct 11-12 last on his birth centenary. The UGC sponsored seminar was organized by JNC under active supervision of the program coordinator Dr. HN Pandey.
The Deputy Commissioner Talem Tapok and prolific writer, thinker and the Chairman of Dying Ering Foundation Oshong Ering graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively while Prof. Kumar Pankaj of Banaras Hindu University delivered the Keynote address amidst fanfare on the inaugural day.
The centenary seminar witnessed the presence of stalwarts from the literati like Prof. Kumar Pankaj BHU Varanasi, Prof. Smty Chandrakala Pandey of Calcutta (Kolkata) University, Prof. S. Chaturvedi of Hyderabad University, Prof. AK Nath Tezpur University and Prof. Debraj of RG University.
Inaugurating the seminar, Tapok lauded the efforts of the college Principal Tayek Talom and his associates for propagating the use of “Rashtrabhasha” and expressed hope that rich contributions made by the several speakers would help the audiences. Terming it was historic a moment for JNC Tapok said Agyeya was a pioneer of modern Hindi poetry, fiction, criticism and journalism who also translated many books of world literature into Hindi. Agyeya traveled extensively, both in India and abroad like University of California, Berkley and after returning home he became Founder Editor of the Dinaman, he further added.
Earlier, The Guest of Honour Oshong Ering pointed out that the seminar was aimed at promoting Hindi literature as it is a widely spoken language. He suggested to conduct more and more seminar inviting students and teachers from several universities in near future to attract the young generation to take more interest in the national language making it more popular.
Prof. Kumar Pankaj his keynote address presented a brief life history of Agyeya. He said the content in Hindi stories these days was quite different from that penned in the past. Though changes in the literature were a natural process, the present writers must introspect as to why their readership was lesser as compared to the earlier writers. The present writers seemed to be more concerned about the style of writing, he commented.
Principal Talom while delivering his welcome address stated the actual motive of the seminar was to make Hindi as a preferred language of communication across the nation and influence the society. According to him it was the best way of promoting the Hindi language is by inviting people from across the nation. Talom extended his thanks to Dr. Igul Padung, Principal Doying Gummin College, Pasighat for active participation and coordination.
The Director of Higher and Technical Education Dr. Joram Begi and State Liasion Officer Dr. V.N Sharma were given warm welcome by the guests, participants and faculties in the valedictory function held today.
The Chief Guest Dr. Begi while interacting the gathering, highly appreciated the college authority for organizing the seminar and further suggested to conduct more seminar and workshops on other subjects to enrich knowledge. Taking privilege on the occasion he welcomed the writers, poets and journalists to visit Arunachal Pradesh to know more about states beauty, tradition, art and culture and to explore the hidden treasures through their writing.
