By Jagpreet Sandhu ,Chandigarh, January 5 : The Chandigarh Administration Education department is organizing the 57th National School Games in accordance of Cricket U-16 Boys, Handball U-19 Boys & Girls, Dodge ball U-19 Boys & Girls, Fencing U-14,17,19 Boys & Girls and Choi-Kwang-Do U-19 Boys & Girls from 6th January to 11th January 2012.
Around 2200 students with their managers and coaches are expected to arrive in the city for the event. These will comprise players from different 30 states, UT’s and units of SGFI which are Chandigarh, Chattishgarh, Haryana, IPSC, Maharashtra, Odisha, Utter Pardesh, Bihar, Daman & Diu, Karnataka, KVS, Kerala, NVS, Tamil Nadu, Uttrakhand, Jharkhand, Vidya Bharti, Assam, Manipur, Goa, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pardesh, Puducherry, Madhya Pardesh, Gujrat, Andhra Pardesh, Jammu & Kashmir and West Bengal. The opening ceremony of the games will be held on 6th January, 2012 at Hockey Stadium, Sector-42, Chandigarh. The Advisor to Administrator UT, Chandigarh, Mr. K.K. Sharma will be the Chief Guest for the event.
For the smooth conduct of the tournament, the department has prepared 7 play venues for Cricket U-16 Boys, 8 courts for Handball U-19 B&G, 2 courts for Dodge ball U-19 B&G. The Fencing U-14,17,19 B&G will be organized at GMSSS-10 and Skating Rink, Sec-10 where as Choi-Kwang-Do U-19 B&G will be held at Sports Complex, Sec-42, Chandigarh. Various committees have been formulated and key Departments have been mobilized for the smooth play of these games. About 150 officials have been put on duty to conduct the matches in impartial and fair.
The Director Health Services, Chandigarh has ensured all type of medical facilities by stationing Doctors and para medical staff round the clock at Control Room. manner. For the redressal of grievances in r/o conduct of competition, the department has formulated a Jury of Appeal and Technical Committee headed by The Director Sports, UT, Chandigarh.
