12 August :Total passengers carried by domestic airlines in the period January-July, 2008 was 258.61 lakhs. The total domestic passengers carried by the Scheduled Airlines of India in the month of July was 30.85 lakhs, while in the month of June, 2008 the total domestic passengers carried was 35.34 lakhs.
The break-up of passengers carried by the Airlines in July, 2008 is as follows:
Air India (Domestic) – 5.56 lakhs, Jet Airways –7.17 lakhs, Jet Lite – 2.53 lakhs, Deccan – 3.45 lakhs, Kingfisher – 4.69 lakhs, Spice Jet – 2.55 lakhs, Paramount – 0.49 lakhs, Go Air – 0.75 lakhs, IndiGo – 3.20 lakhs, MDLR, 0.07 lakhs.
Market share of Air India, Jet Airways, Kingfisher, Jetlite and Paramount have increased from 16.4%, 21.2%, 14.3%, 8.1% and 1.3% in June 2008 to 18.3%, 23.5%, 15.4%, 8.3% and 1.6% respectively in July 2008. The market share of the other airlines have marginally decreased.
The percentage share of the carriers in the month of July 2008 was:
Air India (Domestic) – 18.3%, Jet Airways – 23.5%, Jet Lite – 8.3%, Air Deccan – 11.3%, Kingfisher – 15.4%, Spice Jet – 8.4%, Paramount – 1.6%, Go Air – 2.5% and IndiGo – 10.5%, MDLR- 0.22%.
The seat factors of the domestic airlines in July 2008 were:
Air India (Domestic) – 55.5%, Jet Airways – 67.9%, JetLite – 60.4%, Air Deccan – 49.2%, Kingfisher Airlines – 63.3%, Spice Jet – 57.8%, Go Air – 76.9%, Paramount Airways – 76.1% and IndiGo – 59.0% and MDLR 50.2%.
