Ludhiana, 12th May, 2014 : International Nurses Day on 12th May is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Miss Florence Nightingale, well known as the founder of Modern Nursing. In this regard, College of Nursing, CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana celebrated Nurses Day on 12th May, 2014 organized by TNAI (Trained Nurses Association) and SNA Unit (Student Nurses Association). The theme for this Nurses’ Day is “Nurses: A Force for Change – A Vital Resource for Health”.
Chief Guest of the day is Dr.(Mrs.) Reena Jairus, Nursing Supdt. CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana. Prof. (Mrs.) Ponnamma R. Singh, Principal, College of Nursing enlightened about the theme & introduced the Chief Guest. Mrs. Balqis Victor, President, TNAI (local Branch) unfolded the theme. Scientific session was held on the topic “Leadership” headed by Dr. Triza Jiwan & the team (Mrs. Ritu P. Naihar, Ms. Kamlesh Gill and Ms. Florence John).
Paper presentation was done by Mrs. Prem Lata Prakash, Mr. Sanjeet Johnson, Ms. Anushi Singh, Ms. Ashima Chugh and Ms. Rebecca Benson. Bhangra & cultural dance were presented by TNAI members. A week long activities were planned from 6th to 12th May, 2014 by TNAI & SNA Units (Local Branch). Following activities were conducted during the week.
On 6th May, 2014 A.V. Aids exhibition was held by B.Sc. Nursing 2nd Year & M.Sc. Nursing 1st Year students. On 7th May Basic Nursing procedure competition was held by B. Sc. Nursing and GNM 1st Year students.
Quiz competition on Normal Labour was organized by M.Sc. Nursing 2nd Year (Obs. & Gynae. Nursing group) on 8th May, 2014. Seminar and quiz on pharmacology in critical care was conducted by M.Sc. Nursing 1st Year and 2nd Year students (Medical Surgical Nursing group) on 9th May, 2014. Poster exhibition competition was held by TNAI members on 10th May, 2014.
