CHANDIGARH, SEPT 11 : While second seeded N Sriram Balaji advanced to the singles second round, other Indians in the fray, fifth seeded Ranjeet Virali-Murugesan and Sasi Kumar Mukund made their early exit from the $ 10,000 ITF Men’s Futures Tennis Tournament in Egypt today.
Sriram Balaji dropped just one game as he races to an effortless 6-0, 6-1 against Eric Vehovec of Canada, In another singles first round encounter Ranjeet Virali-Murugesan though lost was not disgraced. The first set was extended to tie-breaker which his rival Sebastian Rivera (Ecu) won by 7-6 (1). The second set was also evenly contested before Sebastian Rivera clichéd it at 6-4.
Sasi Kumar Mukund was outplayed by sixth seeded Pol Toledo Bague from Spain in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
TANISHA-VISHESH MOVE UP IN DOUBLES: Trailing by one set, Indian pair of Tanisha Rohira and Vishesh Vishnu made a fine rally to snuff out the challenge of Lamis Alhussein Abdel Aziz (Egy) and Angelina Gordienko (Rus) by 0-6 6-2 [10-5] in the doubles first round match in the $ 10,000 ITF Women’s Tennis Tournament in Egypt.

VIJAYANT MALIK IN SECOND ROUND: Fourth seeded Vijayant Malik of India ousted been Canadian qualifier Alexendru Pasareanu in straight sets 6-3,6-0 in the first round singles match of the $ 15000 ITF Men’s Futures Tennis Tournament in Toronto (Canada) today.
Alexendru Pasareanu was erratic in his serve as committed eight double faults while Vijayant had only one. Malik also had two aces to his credit. Vijayant Malik scored a total number of 67 points in reply to 39 by his rival.
ANKITA RAINA BOWS OUT: Ankita Raina of India bowed out of singles and doubles of the $50,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament in Sanya (China) today. Ankita and her Chinese partner Zi Yang lost to Boyan Wang and Yafan Wang (China) by 3-6, 2-6 in the doubles first-round match.
In the singles first round fixture, Yue-Yue Hu of China had beaten Ankita Raina by 5-7 6-3 6-1 .
