CHANDIGARH, AUG 29 : Sumit Pal Singh and Digvijay Pratap of CLTA defeated Eklavya Singh and Vikrant Dahiya 5-3, 4-1 in the boys under-16 doubles final of the CLTA-AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today.
Prinkle Singh and Aarushi Kakkar claimed the girls under-16 doubles crown after beating Seerat Sidhu and Baani Singh after saving a few match points. Prinkle and Aarushi won 3-5, 5-3, 11-9.
CHART trainees Bhupender Dahiya and Shashikant won the U-12 doubles title by defeating Naresh Badgujar (CHART) and Arnav Pathange of Karnataka.
CHART trainee Vikrant Dahiya defeated his programme mate Jagdeep Singh Bajwa in straight sets to enter finals of boys U-16 singles. He will be meeting CLTA trainee Eklavya Singh. Eklavya started comfortably and dominated in 1st set against Mritunjay Badola. Eklavya took the 1st set 6-2. In second set both players held serve till 2 games all. After this Mritunjay hit some aggressive forehands to take control of the match and broke Eklavya’s serve two times to win the set 6-2. In the final set Eklavya took full control and took a 5-0 lead. After this he lost only one game and finished the match by winning the final set 6-1.
In the girls U-16 singles, Jannat Khurana continued her winning streak. She faced resistance from Pious Mudgil, a CLTA trainee. Pious took the 1st set 6-4, but Jannat later used her experience to win next two sets by conceding only two games. Jannat will be facing Prinkle Singh of CLTA who defeated Baani Singh. Prinkle wont the first set 6-4 with one break. In the second set Baani came back strongly and took a 4-2 lead. But Prinkle stayed calm and won next 4 games to close out the match 6-4, 6-4.
In the boys U-12 singles, Onkar Apte rallied to beat Dhruv Tangri 6-2, 6-1. Onkar will be facing Divesh Gehlot who stopped CHART trainee a Qualifier Naresh Badgujjar who went down 1-6, 3-6. In the girls U-12, Alisha Menon defeated Harleen Kaur in a hard fought 3 sets match. Alisha won 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 and will be facing Kiran Kalkal who defeated Priyanka Khanna by conceding only one game.
