Jorawer Singh, Chandigarh, September 10, 2009: Chandigarh continues to be a hot destination with the foreign tourists despite many deterrents worldwide, including terror strikes & swine flu. With over 20,000 foreign and 5.5 lac domestic tourists already visiting Chandigarh this calendar year, city is all set for about 40% increase in the influx in 2009 vis a vis the previous year.
Local Discos and restro-bars doing their bit are according warm reception, organizing regular “Wednesday Night” parties for the foreigners. Last evening, it was house full at a popular Sector 8 Disc, with above 100 couples of varied nationalities dancing to the tunes of mix of multi-ethnic Songs and DJs creating a musical aura of international standards. “We prefer Wednesday night over Saturday Night parties as the music and crowd is more of local stuff, which sometimes does not meet our expectation” said, Jeniffer, a regular party freak, who is here from Canada on a student exchange program for six months.
“The wide roads, the clean environment, the pleasant weather and availability of 24 X 7 eating joints with adequate safety, I am really delighted to be here” said Anäis, a French tourist to the city seemingly impressed with the layout and design of the city created by legendary French architect Le Corbusier.
