Mullanpur Garibdas: Today, Dr. Aman Puri, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer serving at the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, visited the school. Dr. Puri has previously held key positions such as Joint Director, Consulate General of India in Dubai, and Regional Passport Officer in Delhi from 2013 to 2016. Accompanying him was his sister, Dr. Pooja Puri, an MD and MBBS professional managing a hospital in Dubai.
During their visit, they were warmly welcomed with floral garlands by Arvind Puri (Chairman), Vice Principal Madam Deepa Rani, the entire school staff, village Sarpanch Jatinder Singh, Lambardar Sardar Mahinder Singh Chahal, Retd. Inspector Swaran Singh, actress Ranjit Rani, and farmer leader Pyara Singh, among others. In honor of their presence, the village community, along with the school management, presented them with a commemorative token of Shri Bala Ji Maharaj Hanuman Ji.
Dr. Aman Puri praised the initiatives of Shri Nathu Ram Puri, Chairman of Puri Foundation UK, and Arvind Puri, Chairman of the Puri Trust, for their contributions to the school and village development. He emphasized the importance of staying connected to one’s homeland and contributing to noble causes. The Puri Trust has undertaken several welfare projects, including the construction of a cremation ground, ML Puri School, a girls’ high school, a sports stadium, Baba Kalu Ji Road, two tube wells, and various other infrastructure developments.
The Puri family, despite holding prestigious positions abroad, remains deeply connected to their homeland, Punjab, and their cultural roots. As part of this commitment, Munna Lal Puri School of Eminence, located in Mullanpur Garibdas, Chandigarh, was established in 2002 under the guidance of Shri Nathu Ram Puri, Chairman of Puri Foundation UK, a leading industrialist and philanthropist. The school, constructed by the Puri Development Trust under the leadership of Chairman Arvind Puri, was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister on July 19, 2002, and later donated for public welfare.
Shri Arvind Puri expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the school’s principal, Madam Jyoti Soni, the staff, and the villagers for their support and participation in the event.
