New Delhi, May 7, 2025 — In a strong retaliatory move against the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the early hours of Wednesday, targeting nine key terrorist infrastructure sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The precision strikes, carried out by the Indian Air Force using standoff weapons, targeted high-value camps and launchpads operated by terror outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).
Shortly after the strikes, the Indian Army posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“Justice is served. Jai Hind!”
🇮🇳 PM Modi Closely Monitored the Operation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had vowed decisive action after the Baisaran massacre, personally monitored Operation Sindoor through the night, coordinating closely with the National Security Council and senior military leadership.
Targets Struck in Operation Sindoor:
Bahawalpur (JeM HQ) – 100 km from the IB
Muridke (LeT camp) – 30 km from the border near Samba
Gulpur – 35 km from LoC, Poonch-Rajouri sector
Sawai LeT camp – 30 km inside PoK, Tangdhar Sector
Bilal Camp – JeM launchpad
Kotli camp – LeT base, 15 km from LoC, opposite Rajouri
Barnala camp – 10 km from LoC, opposite Rajouri
Sarjal camp – JeM camp, 8 km from IB near Samba-Kathua
Mehmoona camp – HM training camp, 15 km from IB, near Sialkot
International & Domestic Reaction
In response, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement confirming the attacks, noting that India had remained within its airspace but struck across the LoC and international border using long-range munitions.
“Pakistan reserves the right to respond appropriately at a time and place of its choosing,” the statement read.
Following the strikes, Pakistan cleared its airspace, leading to diverted commercial flights, as visible on live FlightRadar feeds.
India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval also briefed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who later stated that Washington is “closely monitoring the developing situation between the two nuclear neighbors.”
Domestic Precautions
Amid heightened tensions, all educational institutions in five border districts — Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch — were ordered shut as a precautionary measure.
Earlier, the Indian Army had posted a cryptic video on X:
“Ready to Strike. Trained to Win.” — signaling the nation’s readiness for swift and precise retaliation.
Operation Sindoor marks a significant moment in India’s counter-terror doctrine, emphasizing zero tolerance toward cross-border terrorism and reaffirming its commitment to the safety of its civilians.
