Chandigarh : In remembrance of the supreme sacrifice made by the war heroes of 1962 Indo- China war and to pay homage to them on 50thanniversary . Few wars have been as meticulously ignored as the 1962 Sino-Indian War
Perhaps because it was so traumatic a national disaster and so painful a national embarrassment, the government, the media and the common man seemingly refuse to acknowledge the conflict despite the thousands martyred in their service to their Motherland.
The stigma of the War is so far-reaching in Indian society that for a veteran to even be associated with the War has become just cause for humiliation, though it was the Indian Jawans’ finest hour.
Treating the conflict this way dishonors the memory, the bravery and the dignity of the Indian soldier. Despite them facing insurmountable odds in the enemy’s favor, they individually preformed extraordinarily in their duties Individual acts of bravery can be compared with any other war. Their sheer bravery is an inspiration.
Some of the heroes have been recognized as winners of highest military honors; their stories of heroism will continue to inspire the younger generation.
It is very heartening to note that some special events have been scheduled by youth groups – in a bid to pay homage the unsung heroes:
1. A rally has been organized (by BJP) from Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh to Guwahati in October to pay homage to those killed in that war.
2. Pune based Cycling Academy(SPICA)and Sports science organization (ISSRA) supported by various agencies will be taking a Cycle Expedition – “HOMEAGE TO MYRTYRS 1962” from Pune to Tawang
3. .The Arunachal Bullet Club (ABC) is embarking on a mega Golden Jubilee Ride’ from Itafort in the State capital here to Walong in remote Anjaw district, bordering China in November.
