14 Aug : Temples across Uttarakhand are all decked up to celebrate Janmashtmi birthday of Lord Krishna on Friday, wherein special prayers and programmes would the mark occasion.
In Badrinath, the Badri Vishal temple has been decorated. People from across the country have come to this high altitude pilgrimage center to celebrate the festival with all religous fervour.
At Haridwar, people will begin their day by taking a holy dip in Ganga river on Friday morning.
In state capital Dehradun, different temples have been decorated with flowers and lights. Special prayers and programs of devotional music will mark the day.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva and Chief Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ have greeted the people on the occasion of Janmashtami.
In her message Ms Alva said that the life and teachings of lord Krishna have a universal value. Lord Krishna preaches us to be tolerant and devoid of parochial attitude.
The Chief Minister wished a bright future for all people on the occasion of Janmashtami.
