Apple officially launched the iPhone 16 series on September 9, and it has now hit the shelves in India, with eager buyers rushing to get their hands on the latest devices. Apple’s stores across the country, including in Mumbai and Delhi, have witnessed long queues as customers line up to purchase the new-generation iPhones.
In Mumbai, the Apple Store at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) saw a huge crowd, excited to buy the iPhone 16 series, including the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. These models feature Apple’s largest-ever displays, with the iPhone 16 Pro sporting a 6.3-inch screen and the Pro Max boasting a 6.9-inch display. Both devices also have the thinnest borders ever seen on an Apple product and are equipped with the advanced Always-On 120Hz ProMotion display technology.
Ujjwal Shah, a customer from Mumbai, shared his excitement: “I’ve been standing in the queue for the last 21 hours. I’ve been here since 11 am yesterday, and I’ll be the first to enter the store today at 8 am. The atmosphere in Mumbai for this phone is absolutely new… Last year, I stood in line for 17 hours.”
Similarly, another buyer, Akshay, who traveled from Surat, said, “I came at 6 am to buy the iPhone 16 Pro Max. I really liked iOS 18, and the zoom camera quality has improved significantly.”
Long queues were also reported outside Apple’s store in Delhi’s Saket, as eager customers awaited their turn to purchase the iPhone 16 series.
The iPhone 16 lineup includes the base model iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The Pro models come in striking colours such as Dark Black Titanium, Bright White Titanium, Natural Titanium, and Desert Titanium. With optimized power management and larger batteries, the iPhone 16 Pro promises the best battery life ever in an iPhone.
On the camera front, the iPhone 16 Pro is equipped with a 48MP fusion camera with a 2nd-generation quad-pixel sensor and zero shutter lag. The device also features a 48MP ultra-wide camera and a 5x telephoto lens with a 120mm focal length, enhancing its photographic capabilities. Additionally, new photographic styles allow for real-time adjustments to colours and shadows, making each photo unique.
For video enthusiasts, the iPhone 16 Pro supports 4K120 capture, delivering cinematic-quality recordings with frame-by-frame colour grading in Dolby Vision. The enhanced spatial audio capture offers an immersive experience when paired with AirPods or Apple Vision Pro.
