31 Jan : The local unit of Bharatiya Janata Party Chandigarh today organized eight agitational programmes in various parts of city. The Rural District of the party organized protest march at Raipur Khurd and Behlana. The Distt. No. 4 organized programme at Indira Colony where the effigy of Central Government was burnt by the party activists. Another protest march was held in Colony No. 4. The protest march started from Kali Mata Mandir and reached at Bhushan Light point covering various parts of the colony. The party activists raised slogans against the congress led central government. Effigy of Sharad Pawar was also burnt by the Activists. Another protest march was held in Mauli, Raipur Kalan and Makhan Majra by the Rural District. The District No. 2 organized protest march in Sector 56 colony where the party activists took out a procession march through various parts of the colony. The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Distt. No. 2 opened ‘Manmohan Ki Dukan’ in Sector 41 Market where the party activists displayed the sky-high prices of various essential commodities. The Rural District organized a protest March in Village Daria, U.T. Chandigarh.
While addressing the protests, party President Sh. Sanjay Tandon said the Government and its Ministers are not doing anything to control the price-hike. Instead of making efforts to curb the price hike the ministers are making irresponsible statements. The silence of Prime Minister on the whole issue is also suspicious and is green signal for the black marketers.
Sh. Sanjay Tandon appealed all the residents of Chandigarh to be a part of party’s agitation against Price Hike and attend the state level protest of jBharatiya Janata Party on 6th February 2010 at the roundabout of Sector 7,8, 18 & 19 from where the party activist will march towards Governor House to submit a memorandum to the Administrator, Chandigarh.
