31 Jan : The 3rd Chandigarh Regional Brain Bee was organized by the Department of Neurology, PGIMER, Chandigarh in alliance with the Indian National Brain Bee(INBB), International brain bee(IBB) and Society for Neurosciences(SFN) on the 30th January, 2010 at the Advanced Eye Centre auditorium, PGI Chandigarh. The Brain Bee is an international event held annually with the aim of motivating high school students to learn about the nervous system, arouse their interest in neurosciences and inspire them to pursue careers in research related to deciphering the mysteries of our nervous system. Teams from 7 schools of Chandigarh participated in this nerve tacking event. In the 9 round quiz, Ms Smriti Mahajan of the Sacred Heart School emerged the winner among the 14 closely competing candidates. Ms Sohbat Sandal of PML S. D Public School was the 1st runner up and Mr Akshat Aggarwal of Govt Model School Sec 33 was the 2nd runner up.
The top two winners of this regional rounds will participate in the Indian national finals to be held at Chennai on 27th and 28th March 2010.
The winner of the Indian Nationals would be competing in the International Brain Bee to be held in the United States later this year
