Archit Watts ,Chandigarh, August 7 : As part of the on-going campaign of “To Make the City Tobaco-free” Home-cum-Education Secretary, Ram Niwas, IAS, administered Oath to the students of Government Senior Secondary School, Manimajra and Government Senior Secondary School, Sector-27, Chandigarh.
Niwas called upon the students and said they are the catalyst of change, no amount of rules and laws can make this country strong and asked them to own this city, this country and rise against the challenge that the world is posing.
He interacted with the students on one to one basis and talked about using urinals, brushing the teeth at night, eating junk food and drinking carbonated drinks and laid stress on drinking lots of water as it cleans the digestive system.
During interaction with the students, Ram Niwas asked the elder boys to fight drug addiction and show respect for women and not to indulge in eve-teasing and made the students aware of the need of physical activity, positive thinking and inculcate spirit and scientific inquiry.
In his 45 minutes interaction, he motivated not only the students, but also, the teachers and asked the students to be free from fear as fear cripples our thinking, fear makes for darkness and as long as we are frightened, we shall not be able to create new world.
Except of this, Samwarthak Singh, DPI (S) was also present there on the occasion
