The India Post, 17th November, 2008 : The Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, General (Retd.) S.F. Rodrigues while listening to the grievances of the people during the Public Hearing Session at UT Secretariat, Sector-9 D made clear that Administration is ready to extend maximum help and support to public.
But everything will be done as per rules and regulations. Governor also asked the officials for commissioning a movie on Chandigarh comprising of what Chandigarh is about, how Chandigarh is developing and maintaining the character of the city etc. He further stressed upon the need of up-gradation of the entire Industrial Area. He said that Administration is positive in its approach in making the Industrial Area a state-of-the-art model for everybody.
Accompanied by Mrs. Jean Rodrigues, the Administrator gave a patient hearing to the deputations and individuals and passed necessary directions, to the concerned officers to sort out issues in a time bound manner. The Hearing Session brought a major relief to the disadvantaged people especially the handicapped and destitute women who presented their problems and found instant solutions.
Various issues including the allotment of booths, houses, jobs, job on compassionate ground, rehabilitation of people living in jhuggi’s, removal of encroachment and re-opening of post office in Sector-40 were pointed out in the Hearing session. Administrator set deadlines for taking decisions on various complaints / problems submitted by the people and also sought compliance report with assurance to the visitors for sympathetic considerations and favourable response under rules.
Responding to the complaint of an individual in Public Hearing Session, General Rodrigues asked the Deputy Commissioner to review the functioning of the Committee of the task force assigned the job of removal of encroachments followed with corrective steps wherever necessary. Total of 27 complaints were received during the seating of Grievances Redressal Forum for which he passed the necessary directions to concerned officials.

Singh, Home Secretary, Mr. Ram Niwas, Finance Secretary, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Mr. R.K. Rao, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Dr. Roshan Sankaria, DIG, Mr. Vivek Gogia, Chairman, Chandigarh Housing Board, Mr. Mohanjeet Singh, and Director Information Technology, Mr. Manjit Brar.
