Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh : June 30 : “Aatithi Devo Bhava”, an initiative program started by Secretary Tourism UT, Mr Ram Niwas, under which a training camp was organised at the Sector 43 ISBT for auto Drivers and Taxi Drivers, in which they were educated and taught the Manners & Interaction behaviour with the National and International visitors to Chandigarh. This training program was organised by Chandigarh Tourism along with Chandigarh Police. Chandigarh Tourism worker Mr. Nirdosh along with Chandigarh Police personnel lead by S.I Anju Sharma, incharge Sector 23 Traffic Park, explained the Auto & Taxi Drivers how to behave with the people hiring the auto’s & taxis. They explained them the concept of “Aatithi Devo Bhava”, which tells that one has to be very polite, helpful and true to the commuters. The meaning of this phrase taken from Sanskrit “Aatithi Devo Bhava” is Aatithi – Guest, Devo – God, & Bhava – Like, means Guest is Like God. You are not supposed to charge them extra and not to cheat the people in any way. Neither you will in any way ask for payment in foreign currency from the International guests & visitors. They were also further educated & briefed how to deal with Senior Citizens and the fare discounts to be rendered to them. Along with this drivers were also reminded about the road safety and traffic rules.
