Bhopal:Friday, August 29, 2008:Shri Abhinav Bindra, who won India’s first individual gold medal in Olympic Games creating a history, arrived on his maiden visit to Bhopal and inspected the Shooting Academy being run by state government’s Sports and Youth Welfare Department at the T.T. Nagar Stadium.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Bindra said that the state government is undertaking positive efforts for encouraging sports and sportspersons. He described the Shooting Academy as a unique venture as it impressed him to the core of his heart. He expressed the hope that shooters getting training here would achieve remarkable success. He apprised himself of Shooting Academy’s activities. He also talked to sportspersons and gave them tips.
Those present on the occasion included Member of Parliament Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Additional Chief Secretary Sports Smt. Ranjana Choudhary, Director Sports Shri Sanjay Choudhary, representatives of sports organisations, players and scribes.
Earlier, a number of players including handicapped sportsperson and member of Shooting Academy Shri Faisal Khan extended a warm welcome to Shri Bindra.
