Under attack over the killing of a young IPS officer allegedly by the mining mafia, Madhya Pradesh govt has removed the incharge of a police station under whose limits the brutal incident had occurred.
The transfer was effected even as the Opposition Congress made plans to observe a bandh in the BJP-ruled state on Tuesday demanding a CBI probe into the murder of 30-year-old Narendra Kumar Singh in Morena district last week.
“Banmore Station Incharge V B S Raghuwanshi was yesterday line-attached (removed from field duties) as his performance was not satisfactory”, Morena Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Singh told reporters in Morena on Monday.
Raghuwanshi has been replaced by Rakesh Tiwari. The decision to remove Raghuwanshi was taken by the district police chief after a meeting with Morena Collector D D Agrawal and Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) R S Sikarwar.
Keshavdev Singh, father of the IPS officer, had alleged that Raghuwanshi was not cooperating with his son in cracking down on the mining mafia in the region and has failed to protect his senior officer while on duty.
According to reports, Keshavdev is unsatisfied with the action initiated against Raghuwanshi and has sought stringent punishment. The call for the bandh in MP was given by state unit Congress president Kantilal Bhuria and Opposition Leader Ajay Singh.
“We have conducted several rounds of meeting with party members to ensure the success of the bandh. District chiefs too have held meetings in their respective districts and issued necessary instructions to the partymen,” MPCC Media Committee Chairman, Manak Agrawal said in Bhopal.
Narendra Kumar Singh, who was posted as the Banmore Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), was allegedly mowed down by a member of the mining mafia on 8th March when he tried to stop the tractor-trolley allegedly carrying illegally mined stones.
