Chandigarh, 12 March 2025: Dr. Jeesu Jaskanwar Singh, Assistant Professor in Education, has been conferred with a PhD degree at the 72nd Convocation of Panjab University (PU). The prestigious event was presided over by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, who delivered the Convocation address.
PhD Research on BaLA Scheme’s Impact on Education
Dr. Jeesu Jaskanwar Singh’s PhD research focused on “An Evaluative Study of BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) Scheme in Relation to Learning Outcomes and Creativity of Elementary School Students.” The study was conducted across five schools in Chandigarh and five schools in SAS Nagar, North India. His research examined the impact of the BaLA scheme in government schools, particularly on students’ creativity and learning outcomes.

Dr. Jeesu Jaskanwar Singh is currently serving as the Head of the Department of Education, CDOE, Panjab University. He holds multiple postgraduate degrees in Zoology, Mass Communication, and Education, alongside his PhD in Education from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
His expertise extends to Photography, Educational Technology, Guidance and Counselling, and Content Creation. Additionally, he has undergone Adventure Sports Training from Manali and Hatkoti Mountaineering Institutes.
Experience in Journalism and Social Service
Dr. Singh has a rich professional background, having worked as a Photojournalist with leading media organizations such as The Indian Express, Hindustan Times, and Financial Express, Chandigarh. He also dedicated six years to social service as an NSS Programme Officer at Panjab University.
His PhD research is expected to contribute significantly to educational reforms, offering valuable guidance for policymakers and educators to enhance the effectiveness of learning spaces in government schools.
