There is a provision in the Draft National Telecom Policy (NTP) to review roaming charges with the ultimate objective of removing the roaming charge across the nation. One of the objectives of NTP is to achieve ‘One Nation – Full Mobile Number Portability and work towards One Nation – Free Roaming’. The last date for feedback was 9.12.2011. Feedback has been received from the stake holders including telecom companies. NTP would be approved by the competent authority. Implementation would commence thereafter.
This information was given in Lok Sabha today by Shri Milind Deora, the Minister of State, Communication and Information Technology in response to a question.
It ought to be very good news for the populace of India, if the roaming across country shall be free of charge.
Another suggestion may also be looked into, in the interest of the subscribers, by making every call chargable @ the pulse of second only.
Examplary if a persons talks for 61 Seconds, he or she must be charged only 61 paise & not the rate for two calls, as is the parctice prevalent.
Kindlt do this reform in the tarrif of Telecom Companies, to justify this issue too–dr.amritgaur
