29 June : Rs. 50 lakhs would be spent over providing internet facilities in all the 16 girls and boys hostels of Himachal Pradesh University to facilitate boarders remain aware about the latest information. This was stated by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister in his address delivered at the HP University auditorium at Summer Hill here today.
He dedicated Examination Wing Building completed at a cost of Rs. 2.22 crore and Institute of Management Studies Building completed at a cost of Rs. 3.40 crore to the students of the University and laid foundation stone of Non Teaching Staff quarters at Chariton Estate, estimated to cost Rs. 1,14,24,400.
Chief Minister said that all out efforts were being made to make Himachal Pradesh University a temple of par excellence learning with the help of internet facilities about the latest trends in the respective disciplines.
Prof. Dhumal advised the Himachal Pradesh University authorities to draw a calender of all its examinations and related activities to make the same available to public in general through internet. He said that the State Government had already directed the H.P. Public Service Commission and H.P. Subordinate Service Selection Board to draw a calender of recruitment examination to various vacancies advertised by various departments of the State Government. He said that all the departments had also been directed to send their requisition by the month of December every year for which the concerned recruitment agency would conduct examinations during the month of January each year so that the entire process was completed well before the closure of every financial year. He said that it would go a long way in bringing about efficiency and transparency in the entire process.
Prof. Dhumal said that the Himachal Pradesh University was making rapid strides on academic sphere and congratulated the Himachal Pradesh University authorities for the same. He said that with the dedication of Controller of Examinations Building in the Himachal Pradesh University campus, efficiency would be brought about in the university administration. He said that the new building reception would respond to all the queries of the visitors without disturbing the staff of the university.
Chief Minister underlined the need to ascertain that a date was also fixed by the Himachal Pradesh University authorities for declaration of examination results. He said that it would help the students make preparation for their future endeavours in academics or applying for the job etc. He said that fixed result date would go a long way in facilitating the students and their guardians and all their future planning would be based upon the declaration of their results.
Prof. Dhumal said that Bio Technology was emerging discipline which was gaining popularity and generating employment to the educated youth. He said that the Himachal Pradesh University was most likely to start new courses from coming academic session so that admissions were carried for such courses. He underlined the need for latest educational facilities within the campus.
Chief Minister said that the State Government had been considerate towards the speedy growth of the Himachal Pradesh University and bring it at par with rest of the universities in the country and had enhanced grant in aid by 50 percent during past 18 months as Rs. 45 crores was made available for various academic and infrastructure developmental activities of the university. He said that more such facilities would be made available from time to time.
Prof. Dhumal gave a clarion call to teaching and non teaching fraternity of the university to rededicate themselves to make Himachal Pradesh University the leading university in the country with best academic atmosphere available to the students.
Prof. Sunil Gupta, Vice Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh University welcomed Chief Minister and thanked him for sanctioning Rs. 1 crore each for staff quarters and Bio Tech. Project in H.P. He also thanked for enhanced grant of Rs. 45 crore to Himachal Pradesh University.
