Chandigarh, January 20: A delegation of Panjab University faculty members met the Vice Chancellor today to discuss the long-pending issue of salary arrears under the 7th Pay Commission. During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor assured the delegation that the matter was at an advanced stage and that the arrears would be released soon within the current financial year.
The Finance & Development Officer (FDO), who was also present during the deliberations, expressed confidence that the issue was progressing well and would be resolved shortly.
Apart from salary arrears, the faculty delegation also raised the demand for enhancing the retirement age of PU faculty members from 60 to 65 years. Additionally, the issue of PhD increments for faculty was discussed in detail, and a well-defined course of action was devised to address it effectively.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with faculty members hopeful for swift resolution of their concerns.
