Chandigarh, May 1, 2025 — A powerful message of solidarity and resilience echoed across the Panjab University campus today as a large number of teachers, employees, and students gathered for the Unity March Against Terrorism, organized by the Panjab University Teachers’ Association (PUTA).

The march, which began at the Student Centre and concluded at Gandhi Bhawan, was held in the wake of the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 innocent lives. Participants walked in silence and unity to denounce terrorism and honor the victims.

Prominent speakers at the event included PUTA President Prof. Amarjit Singh Naura, PUTA Secretary Dr. Mritunjay Kumar, Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Prof. Simret Kahlon, and Prof. Manu Sharma. In their addresses, they strongly condemned the attack and called on the academic community to promote peace, justice, and humanity in the face of rising violence.

“We stand united against all forms of terrorism,” said Prof. Naura. “Let this march be a symbol of our collective strength and our unwavering commitment to peace.”

A two-minute silence was observed in memory of the victims, followed by a candle-lighting ceremony at Gandhi Bhawan — a poignant tribute that brought together members of the university in shared grief and determination.

The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout, reflecting the university’s united stance against terror and its commitment to fostering a peaceful and inclusive society.
