Rediscovering History: My Journey with ‘Subhash Bawani’ and the Legacy of Netaji

Prashant Pol : I don’t remember exactly, but there will be days of the first phase of Corona. On social media, in some groups, under the title ‘Subhash Bawani’, Netaji started writing about Subhashchandra Bose. The writer was – Ambarish Pundlik. I heard this name for the first time. Every week, ‘Subhash Bawani’ started to come. Since there was plenty of things to do, my beginning part remained reading. But read one part in the middle and loved writing it.

Then off to find the rest of the part. It’s hard to find a text on WhatsApp (even using search etc), when you literally have thousands of messages daily. So many episodes of ‘Subhash Bawani’ could not be read.

I liked the idea of presenting the life of Ambarish Pundlik and Subhashchandra Bose in such a way. Straight out of it – simple, but flicky and nailful writing. But still, ‘Subhash Bawni’ remained the same as it was supposed to be read.

However, about one-and-a-half years ago, got a call, “I am Ambarish Pundlik saying. ‘Subhash Bawani’ I want to send you. Tell me your address”. Funny means, ‘Subhash Bawni’ has been published in the form of a book, I knew it. It was on my wish list too. But it remained to be ordered at other rates of work. So glad to say the book is coming straight to the door. But I like to buy books and read. So I told Ambarish ji. But they insisted on my husband. And in the next two-four days, the books also came.

I wanted to read this book ‘healthily’. I read a lot on the journey. So that book walked around a lot of places with me. But since I wanted to read ‘health’, it remained the same.

My total flight journey was four and a half hours day before yesterday. Three hours stay at Hyderabad airport. The time was plenty. So, the book I took after flying from Jabalpur, I finished it!

‘Why to call a good book? ‘It’s very simple, straight answer bridges have given. They wrote, ‘The book which you can’t solve after taking it in hand without reading it completely, is a good book. ‘Subhash Bawani’ comes in this test.

‘Subhash Bawani’ is not a book that goes into such a grand divine category. That’s the biography of Subhash Babu told in simple language. However, the way she draws through the ‘narations’ of young people, is a capture of style. The questions that arise in our mind, the Ambrish which puts in it, and also answers that they agree. I have read many books on Subhash Chandra Bose in Hindi, Marathi, English. Most of them are collected at home. But there is no subhash character described in such a juicy language. So I like this one more.

In total, 52 episodes of 52 weeks a year, is the composition of the book. Especially ‘Subhash Babu did not die in the plane crash, he was later staying in India’. By giving reasons to this argument, they have grown all the parts of the Lalit Angan very well.

If you want to understand Subhash Chandra Bose in simple language, then this book must be read by your young friends. This book, published by ‘Morya Prakashna’, is available on online bookshops like Book Ganga, Amazon, Flipkart.
