As many as six new National records were set in the five day long 55th National Shooting Championship held in CRPF Academy, Kadarpur in Gurgaon , which were declared closed today. In all nine events were held in which Mr. Man Simran Singh of Chandigarh emerged as the best civilian shooter with three gold and three bronze medals. He set two new national records in 3P Free Rifle and 3P Standard rifle shooting, while Ms. Ranjana Gupta of UP Police set a record in rifle prone 300m civilian championship. Ms. Manju Kumari of CRPF won Bronze medal in 300 m Rifle three position ( ISSF ). More than 125 men and women from different Central Armed Police Forces ( CAPF ), Army and civilians participated in the events.
Shri Avtar Singh Sethi, Senior Vice President of National Rifle Association of India ( NRAI ) was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Shri H.R. Singh, Director, CRPF Academy, Kadarpur expressed hope that more and more youngsters would take advantage of the International level facilities available at the shooting range of the Academy and help in producing World class shooters for the country. He also said that shooting helps in making a person responisible and focused. Earlier, Shri T.S. Dhillon, Ex-IG of CRPF, Vice President NRAI and Director of Competition presented a memento to the Chief Guest.
