New Delhi, April 20, 2025 – “To be ready for Viksit Bharat 2047, we must adopt an environment-friendly and focused approach inspired by the Gita – the foundation of Needonomics,” emphasized Prof. Madan Mohan Goel, Vice-Chancellor (thrice), known as the propounder Needonomics School of Thought. He was delivering the keynote address today at the MIGA (Make India Great Again) Gabfest 2025 – A Conference on Viksit Bharat 2047, organized by the Charles Walters Council for Innovation & Research, in collaboration with the Association of Indian Bureaucrats, at Gulmohar Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Abhishek Pandey, Founder and Director of the Council and introduced the distinguished guests present on the coccassion.
Speaking on the theme “Relevance of Gita-Inspired Needonomics for Viksit Bharat”, Prof. Goel outlined a comprehensive roadmap rooted in Indian wisdom and economic pragmatism.
“To become a hub of needo-exports, Viksit Bharat must adopt the NAW approach – Need, Affordability, and Worth – in marketing, driven by needo-consumption,” he asserted.
Prof. Goel emphasized the triad of needo-wealth, needo-health, and needo-happiness as pillars for the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Bharat’s demographic rise to 1.6 billion by 2047 from 1.44 billion in 2025 is both a challenge and an opportunity. With 50% urban population, a doubling elderly base, and a shrinking youth segment, we must focus on skilling, quality employment, healthcare, and a robust retirement system. Guided by Needonomics, we must reduce wastage and invest in health, education, and skills to convert this demographic reality into a dividend for Viksit Bharat, opined Prof .Goel.
He elaborated on the importance of needo-behaviour in economic activities such as consumption, saving, production, investment, and distribution, coupled with needo-trade for glocalization – thinking globally and acting locally.
Highlighting the role of needo-altruism, Prof. Goel said, “We must internalize the spirit of Not Me but You from the NSS motto and strive to earn more than we spend, becoming instruments of empowerment for others.”
He called for behavioural transformation among all stakeholders – consumers, producers, distributors, traders, policymakers, and politicians – to overcome what he termed as “illness in economic behaviour.”
Concluding his address, Prof. Goel urged everyone to become street SMART – Simple, Moral, Action-oriented, Responsive, and Transparent – and to adopt Needonomics as a common-sense approach for achieving the goals of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
