Chandigarh, May 23: Dr. Devinder Singh, a distinguished academic and Professor at Panjab University, has been appointed as the third Vice Chancellor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University (NLU), Sonipat. The news has sparked celebrations among his family, friends, and the teaching community at Panjab University, who extended their heartfelt congratulations for this remarkable achievement.
Born in 1972 in a modest village in Hamirpur District, Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Singh hails from a family with a proud army background. Driven by a passion for education from an early age, he left his hometown in pursuit of academic excellence. He completed his graduation from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, followed by an LL.B from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Furthering his expertise in law, he earned an LL.M from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, and later obtained a Ph.D. from Panjab University, Chandigarh—an academic journey that reflects a rich exposure to diverse institutions across northern India.
Dr. Singh brings with him over 26 years of teaching experience, having begun his career in 1999 at Panjab University with a modest honorarium of Rs. 150 per lecture. Over the years, he has built a formidable reputation as both an educator and administrator. His extensive administrative experience includes serving as Dean and participating in various policy-making committees in multiple educational institutions.
A prolific scholar, Dr. Singh has authored more than five books and published over 45 research papers and articles in reputed journals. His academic and administrative contributions have earned him respect in the legal education community across India.
