A delegation of Panjab University teachers met the Honorable Governor of Punjab, accompanied by Shri Sanjay Tandon, to highlight the pressing issue of the retirement age disparity between Panjab University and other higher educational institutes in Chandigarh, including government colleges affiliated with the university.
While teachers in these institutes retire at 65 years, Panjab University continues to follow a retirement age of 60 years. The delegation pointed out that amendments to the regulations, which would harmonize the retirement age, were sent to the Central Government long ago, with repeated reminders since then, yet no approval has been received.
In response, the Honorable Governor assured the delegation that he would address the matter with the relevant authorities, hoping to resolve the discrepancy and ensure parity for Panjab University teachers.
