CHANDIGARH: Marking World Photography Day, a significant artwork titled “Colours of Faith & Bravery: The Spiritual Heritage of Punjab” was unveiled before the bust of the revered Dr. M. S. Randhawa at the Punjab Arts Council, Kala Bhawan, Chandigarh.
The special event served as an artistic tribute to the legendary visionary Dr. Randhawa, celebrating his unparalleled contributions to the promotion and preservation of Punjab’s art, culture, agriculture, and heritage.
The newly unveiled artwork was meticulously prepared by Harpreet Sandhu, State Information Commissioner, Punjab. It is dedicated to Dr. Randhawa’s enduring legacy and his long-term vision of documenting and preserving the cultural soul of Punjab for future generations.
The placement of the artwork directly before the bust of Dr. Randhawa carries profound symbolic significance. It represents a deep connection between his visionary preservation of Punjab’s heritage and the contemporary role of photography in documenting its living traditions.
Speaking on the occasion, Harpreet Sandhu stated that the creative portrait seeks to highlight the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Punjab through the powerful medium of photography and visual art. He added that the work aims to encourage greater appreciation and continued preservation of the state’s timeless legacy.
A Noble Endeavour
Swaranjit S. Savi, Chairman of the Punjab Arts Council, highly appreciated the art portrait, describing it as a noble cause initiated by Sandhu.
Former Judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court, Justice Jasbir Singh, also congratulated Harpreet Sandhu for this creative endeavor dedicated to World Photography Day 2026.
