Chandigarh, September 25, 2025 : The Maintenance Command of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on developmental projects supporting the sustenance and operational requirements of the IAF. The MoU was exchanged on September 24, 2025, between Air Marshal Vijay Kumar Garg, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command, and Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar.
The partnership aims to boost the IAF’s indigenisation drive in line with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. As part of the agreement, IAF has identified priority areas for technology development and indigenous solutions to sustain weapon systems, while IIT Ropar will provide consultancy, advanced research support, feasibility studies, and development of technology demonstrators.
Officials said the collaboration will strengthen self-reliance in defence technologies, address challenges in niche areas, and foster an ecosystem of innovation through academia-military synergy.
