The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Panjab University unit, has urged the Panjab University administration to establish additional examination centres for entrance tests of law courses.

Currently, entrance examinations for 3-year and 5-year law programmes are conducted only in Chandigarh, compelling students from various districts of Punjab to travel long distances. According to ABVP, this results in financial burden, loss of time, and physical as well as mental stress, particularly affecting students from rural and economically weaker backgrounds.

The student organisation stated that the centralisation of exam centres is creating barriers for deserving and talented candidates. It has proposed that the university set up additional centres in key regions such as Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, and Sri Muktsar Sahib to ensure equal opportunities for all aspirants.

ABVP has also called for a prompt and positive decision on the matter, emphasising that decentralising examination centres would ease travel-related hardships and reduce financial strain on students.

The ABVP Panjab University unit expressed hope that the university administration will take the issue seriously and implement necessary measures at the earliest.
