CHANDIGARH: In a major push to support talented youth facing financial constraints, a new initiative will provide free civil services coaching to deserving government school students in Chandigarh.
The announcement was the major highlight of a Career Guidance and Motivational Session hosted by the Department of School Education on Saturday for 114 meritorious Class X students at the UT Secretariat. The event was organized under the visionary guidance of the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria.
Breaking Financial Barriers for Civil Services
Addressing the young achievers, IAS Mentor Raj Malhotra encouraged the students to dream big and maintain strict discipline in their academic pursuits. Sharing anecdotes from his own journey, he motivated them to prepare sincerely for future competitive examinations.
In a significant announcement, Malhotra stated that deserving, meritorious students who face financial barriers will be provided with absolutely free coaching for the Civil Services Examination. The initiative aims to ensure that financial limitations never hinder raw talent and high aspirations.
Focus on Well-being and Mental Resilience
Beyond academic preparation, the session heavily emphasized holistic development and mental health.
Director of School Education, Nitish Singla, who was in attendance, shared his personal life experiences and stressed the importance of highly focused learning. He advised the students to aggressively minimize mobile phone distractions and prioritize daily physical exercise to maintain their overall well-being.
Complementing this advice, Educational Psychologist Ms. Saadgi Malhotra conducted a session on emotion and stress management. She provided the students with actionable guidance on building emotional resilience, maintaining positive thinking, and developing highly effective study habits.
A Community Effort
The event also saw participation from civil society, with Dr. Ramneek Sharma from the Rotary Club interacting with the attendees and sharing valuable perspectives to inspire both academic and personal excellence.
The motivational session aligns perfectly with the broader, long-term goals of the Chandigarh Administration, which continuously aims to elevate the standard of public education through structured career counseling, active mentorship, and equitable opportunities for promising local students.
