Chandigarh: To mark National Girl Child Day, city school girls today visited Raipur Kalan Gaushala to understand its functioning and the animal welfare initiatives undertaken by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC).
During the visit, the students actively participated in various Gaushala activities by offering fodder to the cattle and assisting staff in feeding them. They also observed the cleaning process and daily operations carried out to ensure the care, hygiene, and overall well-being of the animals housed at the facility.
MC Joint Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Gupta joined the students during the visit and interacted with them. Extending his warm wishes to the girls on National Girl Child Day, he appreciated their enthusiasm and praised their compassionate involvement in animal welfare activities.
Dr. Gupta said that such educational and participatory visits are essential for sensitising young citizens towards animal care and responsibility. He added that increased community participation from city residents can further help strengthen and improve Gaushala facilities and services.
The visit proved to be an enriching and inspiring experience for the students, reinforcing the values of empathy, responsibility, and compassion for animals while celebrating the spirit and empowerment of the girl child.
