CHANDIGARH — A heartfelt farewell function was organized at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, today to honor faculty members and employees superannuating during the month of May 2026. The ceremony, held at 12 Noon in the Board Room of the Kairon Block, was marked by warmth, gratitude, and deep appreciation for the decades of dedicated service rendered by the retiring personnel.

The event was graced by senior officials and prominent faculty members, including Prof. Vivek Lal (Director, PGIMER), Prof. R.K. Ratho (Dean Academic), Prof. Sanjay Jain (Dean Research), Prof. Ashok Kumar (Medical Superintendent), and Sh. Pankaj Rai, IAS (Deputy Director Administration), among other departmental heads and administrative officers.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, lauded the retiring faculty and staff for their unwavering commitment and sincerity toward patient care, academics, and institutional development.

As a token of appreciation and remembrance, Prof. Lal presented mementos to the retirees, wishing them a healthy and fulfilling post-retirement life.

Retiring Faculty & Staff Honored (May 2026)

The Institute formally recognized the following individuals for their enduring association with the PGIMER family:

Faculty Members

  • Prof. Radhika Srinivasan (Head, Department of Cytology & Gynae. Pathology) – Joined on May 3, 1991; completed 35 years of service.

  • Prof. S.S. Pandav (Head, Department of Ophthalmology) – Joined on February 17, 1993; completed 33 years of distinguished service.

Technical & Administrative Staff

  • Dr. Praveen Tripathi (Tutor Technician, Department of Medical Parasitology) – Joined on September 1, 1986; served for 39 years.

  • Smt. Divia (Technical Assistant, Department of Radiodiagnosis & Imaging) – Joined on September 13, 1986; completed 39 years of dedicated service.

  • Sh. Kaka Singh (Technical Assistant – Lab, Department of Biochemistry) – Joined on June 10, 1993; rendered 32 years of service.

  • Sh. Ujagar Singh (Junior Administrative Officer, Training Branch) – Joined on April 21, 1994; completed 32 years of service.

  • Sh. Davinder Chopra (Data Entry Operator Grade A, Recruitment Cell) – Joined on May 11, 1999; served for 27 years.

  • Sh. Avtar Singh (Work Attendant Grade II, Engineering Department) – Joined on September 25, 1993; completed 32 years of service.

  • Sh. Dinesh Kumar – Superannuated during the month of May 2026.

Nursing Services

  • Smt. Renu Alfred (Assistant Nursing Superintendent, O.E. OT) – Joined on August 3, 1989; completed 36 years of service.

  • Smt. Veena (Assistant Nursing Superintendent, ESOPD) – Joined on July 25, 1992; rendered 33 years of service.

  • Smt. Manju Dass (Senior Nursing Officer, NICU) – Joined on November 27, 1992; served the Institute for 33 years.

The farewell ceremony concluded on an emotional yet celebratory note, with colleagues, peers, and senior functionaries extending their warmest best wishes to the retirees for their meaningful journey ahead.
