CHANDIGARH: Highlighting the vital link between gender equality and nation-building, Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh on Friday called upon industry bodies to actively partner in the mission of women empowerment. He specifically urged them to create sustainable opportunities and promote entrepreneurship among women from weaker, underprivileged, and marginalized sections of society.
Addressing the prestigious “Matri Shakti Samman 2026” ceremony organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), the Governor emphasized that inclusive development can only be realized when women from all tiers of society are provided equal opportunities to succeed. The high-profile event felicitated a total of 40 women achievers from diverse fields for their remarkable contributions, dedication, and leadership.
The ceremony was graced by prominent dignitaries, including the First Lady of Haryana, Smt. Mitra Ghosh; Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini; Smt. Suman Saini; and Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sh. Harvinder Kalyan. “Whenever a woman rises, a family rises. When a family rises, a community rises. And when communities rise, the nation rises,” Prof. Ghosh remarked, hailing the awardees as beacons of inspiration for millions of young girls.
Echoing these sentiments, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini asserted that women are no longer merely beneficiaries of government schemes, but are equal partners and driving forces in India’s developmental journey. Describing women as the strongest pillar of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India), the Chief Minister reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision focusing on four key pillars: women, farmers, youth, and the poor.
Saini stated that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the country has entered a new era of women-led development, with women excelling globally in sports, science, administration, and entrepreneurship. He reaffirmed the Haryana Government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety, healthcare, education, and economic self-reliance of women through various targeted state initiatives.
The mega event concluded in the presence of senior officials, including Secretary to the Governor Sh. Vijaykumar Bhavikatti, alongside key PHDCCI representatives such as Sh. Karan Gilhotra, Himani Arora, and Meetu Puri.
