New Delhi, August 12 — Aadhaar Face Authentication has achieved a major milestone, recording 200 crore transactions as of August 10, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) announced on Monday. The figure marks a doubling from 100 crore transactions in just six months.
The contactless authentication method allows Aadhaar holders to verify their identity instantly and securely without the need for physical documents, usable anytime and anywhere.
UIDAI data highlights the pace of adoption: 50 crore transactions were logged by mid-2024, rising to 100 crore by January 2025, and now to 200 crore by August 2025.
“Reaching 200 crore Aadhaar Face Authentication transactions in such a short time underlines the trust and confidence that both residents and service providers have in Aadhaar’s secure, inclusive, and innovative authentication ecosystem,” said UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar. “From villages to metros, UIDAI is working with governments, banks, and service providers to make Aadhaar Face Authentication a success, giving every Indian the power to prove their identity instantly, securely, and anywhere.”
The system is being deployed across banking, welfare schemes, telecom, and digital governance. UIDAI said the achievement aligns with the core vision of Digital India, enabling inclusive, paperless identity verification and strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure.
