Chandigarh, India | August 6: At just 26, Ojasvi Dutta, an alumnus of DAV Public School, Sector 8C, and SD College, Panjab University, has emerged as a key force behind the recent $20.3 million renewal of the Louisiana Biomedical Research Network (LBRN) — a major U.S.-based initiative funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS).

Currently serving as Assistant Director at the Division of Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine (BioMMED) and Program Manager for LBRN in Louisiana, USA, Dutta played a pivotal role in the network’s competitive renewal proposal. He was instrumental in developing the LBRN Training Platform and launching a Master’s Degree in Computational Molecular Medicine, aimed at equipping future researchers with cutting-edge skills in biomedical science.

Working alongside leading scientists including Bratie Leary, Dr. Harikrishnan Mohan, and Dr. Seetharama Jois, Dutta has also partnered with LSU’s Cain Center to facilitate virtual education for high school teachers and students in the U.S.

Dr. Gus Kousoulas, Director of LBRN, lauded Dutta as “the best employee I have had in more than 36 years at LSU,” citing his exceptional efficiency, innovation, and leadership.

Now, under Dutta’s guidance, the LBRN Training Platform is set to expand into Indian universities and schools, offering training modules, certifications, and select free courses in bioinformatics, data science, and biomedical research.

“I’m deeply proud to represent Chandigarh on a global stage,” said Dutta. “This platform will open doors for Indian students and researchers, connecting them with world-class resources and collaborative opportunities in biomedical science.”
