PRAYAGRAJ: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to inaugurate the newly developed ‘Prerna Park’ on the banks of the Yamuna River in Prayagraj today.
During the high-profile visit, the Chief Minister will unveil bronze statues of three prominent national figures: Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and former Vishwa Hindu Parishad International President Ashok Singhal.
Prerna Park: A Tribute to Cultural Nationalism
Developed by the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation at a cost of ₹1 crore, Prerna Park is located near Kali Ghat on the Yamuna riverfront.
Prayagraj Mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani stated that the park has been conceptualized to showcase the life, values, and ideals of the three leaders. The objective is to inspire future generations through their massive contributions to national service, cultural nationalism, social harmony, and public welfare.
The beautified park features landscaped gardens, modern lighting, pathways, extensive seating arrangements, and sanitation facilities surrounding the statues. The inauguration aligns with the state government’s ongoing, massive redevelopment and beautification works along the Ganga and Yamuna ghats in the run-up to the Maha Kumbh.
‘Ekta Boat Race’ and Development Review
To commemorate Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s legacy on his birth anniversary, the Chief Minister will flag off the Ekta Nauka Race (Unity Boat Race) on the Yamuna River. According to the official program, more than two dozen boats are scheduled to participate in the race, following which the Chief Minister will address a public gathering at the park.
Following the public events, Adityanath will proceed to the Prayagraj Mela Authority auditorium at the Parade Ground. There, he will conduct a high-level review of 1,553 ongoing and completed development works being executed by the Public Works Department and other agencies across the Prayagraj Zone.
Officials noted that the projects under review are collectively valued at over ₹2,500 crore and are highly critical to the city’s infrastructure and preparedness for upcoming religious congregations.
