A grand cultural evening “Jhankar 2024” was organized by Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC), Chandigarh at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, Chandigarh last evening. Employees of various government departments, their family members participated in the event with great enthusiasm. The participating departments included PAG Offices of Punjab and Haryana, CPWD, NCC, NIC, Defence Accounts, Income Tax, Labour Bureau, Press Information Bureau, EPFO, DRT, CGWB, CGHS, Census, BSNL, CCA, GST, MES department. The main attraction of the programme was the “Fancy Dress Show” in which all the little kids participants displayed their unique talents.
Many eminent guests graced the event with their presence. These included popular actor, writer and comedian of Punjabi cinema Mr. Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi, actor Mr. Malkit Singh Roni, film and TV actor Mr. Balmukund Sharma and former captain and coach of Indian national hockey team, Padma Shri awardee Mr. Sardara Singh. The presence of these eminent personalities not only graced the event but also increased the enthusiasm of all the participants.
The glimpses of various forms of performing art in the “Jhankar 2024” cultural evening mesmerized the audience. The presentation of classical dance depicted the dignity of classical art in an impressive manner. Haryanvi and Punjabi folk dances, Bhangra and Giddha enthralled the entire auditorium. Along with this, skits and presentation of various film songs entertained everyone thoroughly. In particular, the presentation of Kumaoni song ‘Gulabi Sharara’ drew everyone’s attention and presented a beautiful glimpse of cultural diversity.
Mr. A.D. Jain, Vice President, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal and Chairman of Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee, Chandigarh in his address welcomed and felicitated the dignitaries, Head of various departments and the Central Government employees. He also gave away prizes to the participants.
Dr. Amarjit Kaur, Senior Regional Director, Health & Family Welfare and Joint Secretary, CGEWCC expressed gratitude to all the central government employees, officers and their children of Tri-City for making the programme a success. Other office bearers, who contributed significantly in making this cultural evening memorable included Ms Monika, Joint Secretary CGEWCC, Mr. Sanjay Jharbade, Assistant Engineer of CPWD & Joint Secretary CGEWCC, Sh. Deepak Kumar Dhingra, Organising Secretary CGEWCC and Sh, Balram Krishan Treasurer CGEWCC.
The jury of the programme, Which played a leading role in the successful organization of “Jhankar 2024” included Ms. Sapna, Deputy Director, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Dr. Subhasree Roy, Scientist of Institute of Nano Science & Technology and Mr. Om Prakash, PRO Telecommunication. Mr. Om Prakash conducted the stage efficiently.
