Chandigarh, 28 April 2025 — In a powerful display of unity and resolve, hundreds of members from the OBC community stormed the Panjab University campus today, demanding immediate implementation of OBC reservations in admissions and recruitment processes. The unprecedented agitation has sent strong ripples across the region’s academic and political circles.
Concluding the protest, the OBC leadership issued a firm ultimatum to the PU administration: take concrete action within ten days or face a renewed, intensified occupation of the Vice Chancellor’s office. Protesters declared that no further unconstitutional or casteist delays would be tolerated.
The agitation witnessed participation from several high-profile leaders, including Ex-MP Raj Kumar Saini (Kurukshetra), Chandigarh Congress President H.S. Lucky, Samajwadi Party’s Vikram Yadav, former INSO youth leader Raju Pai, Punjab NSUI State President Isher Sidhu, NSUI Chandigarh leaders Jatin Virk and Sikandar Boora, ASA leader Gautam Bhoria, AISA leader Ayush Srivastava, AAP Chandigarh President Vedpal Yadav, OBC Federation Mansa’s Lal Chand Yadav, BSP Chandigarh’s Waryam Singh, Panjab National Party President Shinderpal Singh, Arun Kumar of Sector 26, Virender Saini of the Saini Welfare Association Panchkula, and PU professors Manjeet Singh, Dr. Kulwinder Singh, Dr. Vinod Chaudhary, and Dr. Sudhir Mehra.
Sanyogita from SC Federation Muktsar, Vijay Bansal (former Chairman, Panchkula Congress), and High Court petitioners Dr. Nirvair Singh and LikhaRam Budania (leader, OBC Jaat Rajasthan Association) also addressed the gathering.
Speaker after speaker warned the Panjab University administration that continued betrayal of OBC rights would ignite an unstoppable mass movement. The speakers evoked the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, calling for urgent, united action to end systemic discrimination.
Participants traveled from across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan, showing overwhelming solidarity.
The agitation was concluded with a rousing speech by Dr. Balwinder Singh Multani, Incharge of the OBC Reservation Implementation Forum (OBCRIF), who declared:
“The battle for justice has begun. Either reservation now — or total revolution!”
The stage is now set for a larger confrontation if the administration fails to act swiftly.
