Chandigarh, August 18: Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women commenced its Induction Week with a spiritually uplifting Havan ceremony, marking an auspicious start to the academic session.
The event was graced by Sh. R. C. Jeevan, Senior Member of the MCM DAV College Governing Body, as the Chief Guest. The sacred ritual was conducted by Pandit Dau Dayal from Arya Samaj, Sector 16, Chandigarh, and witnessed active participation from newcomers and faculty members, who together offered prayers for success and prosperity in the year ahead.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Jeevan expressed happiness that the academic journey of freshers began with divine blessings. He emphasised that Yajya is not just a ritual, but “a feeling, an emotion, and a supreme karma” symbolising progress and discipline in life. Urging students to embrace compassion (Daya) and righteousness (Dharam), he inspired them to walk the path of truth, discipline, and balance. He also shared the legacy of Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan, after whom the college is named, encouraging students to draw inspiration from his life of service and integrity.
Welcoming the newcomers, Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma highlighted the importance of balancing freedom with responsibility. On the occasion, she also announced the launch of the ‘College Konnect’ App, aimed at strengthening accessibility and communication between the institution and students.
The ceremony set the tone for the Induction Week, blending tradition, values, and innovation as students embarked on their academic journey at MCM.
