TEHRAN / JERUSALEM — The embassy attack arrived precisely as regional tensions hit a boiling point. Following the coordinated US-Israeli airstrikes last week that resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) carried out a new wave of strikes in Tehran.
After issuing evacuation warnings, Israel stated these latest operations specifically targeted command centres, missile infrastructure, and media facilities that it accused of being utilized for military and propaganda purposes.
The human cost of the escalating campaign continues to rise. The Iranian Red Crescent reports that at least 555 fatalities have occurred across 131 cities since the military operations began.
Meanwhile, Tehran has hardened its diplomatic stance. Despite signals from President Trump that Washington remains open to dialogue, senior Iranian official Ali Larijani unequivocally stated that Iran “will not negotiate with the United States.”
