Chandigarh : Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association is organizing CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship for Men & Women (Rs.1 Lakh prize money each) from 23rd to 27th September, 2024 sponsored by HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited in CLTA Tennis Stadium, Sector 10, Chandigarh.
Shanker Heisnam and Debasish Sahoo entered the Semifinals in the Men’s singles. Shanker Heisnam (MN) upset 4th seed Jagmeet Singh (HR) in a 3 setter match 5-7, 6-2, 6-1. After 1st set down Shanker came back strongly in the 2nd set with his powerful ground stroke and closed the 2nd set 6-2. In the deciding set Shanker raised his level of game and maintained his rhythm, finally Shanker closed the final set and the match 6-1 easily. Shanker will play Sandesh D Kurale (MH) in singles Semifinals tomorrow. In the another Quarterfinals match Debasish Sahoo (OD) outplayed 8th seed Omar Rehan Sumer (MH) 6-3, 6-2 in straight sets.
In the Women’s singles Quarterfinals Qualifier Mahika Khanna (UP) won from Sara Yadav (MP) in a 3 setter marathon match 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Mahika played in top form and maintained her consistency throughout the match. In the another Quarterfinal match 2nd seed Pooja Ingale (MH) overpowered Snigdha Patibandla (AS) 6-1, 6-1 easily. Samriti Punyani (DL) and Adithi Are (TS) also advanced into Semifinals in the Women’s singles.
The Men & Women singles Semifinals and doubles finals matches will be played on Thursday, the 26th September, 2024 in CLTA Tennis Stadium, Sector 10, Chandigarh at 09:30 A.M. onwards.
