The Anatomy of the Current Price Hike

On June 25, 2026, a federal antitrust class-action lawsuit (Garciaguirre et al v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. et al) was filed in the Northern District of California against Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. The lawsuit alleges:

Apple, known for its ironclad supply chain, was forced to raise prices across its product lineup due to what it called “unsustainable” memory costs. For instance, the Mac Studio powered by the M3 Ultra recently saw a massive $1,300 price increase.
To combat the “DRAM Triarchy” and maintain their hardware pricing margins, Apple is looking for a fourth major supplier.
