Chandigarh, February 4, 2026: On the occasion of World Cancer Day, Intas Foundation organised a cancer awareness programme for cancer patients and their families at “Apna Ghar” Transit Home in Chandigarh.
During the programme, Dr. Naveen, Dr. Lakshay and Dr. Harshit from the Medical Oncology team at PGIMER, Chandigarh, interacted with patients and caregivers and shared important information on early detection of cancer, treatment procedures, and the significance of maintaining mental well-being during the course of treatment. An interactive question-and-answer session was also held, allowing participants to clarify their doubts and concerns.
Through “Apna Ghar” Transit Home, cancer patients and their attendants are provided with free accommodation, meals, and transportation assistance to and from hospitals. In addition, regular psychological counselling is offered by psychologist Bhavya to support the mental health of both patients and caregivers.
Speaking on the occasion, Deepak Kirar, Project Associate, Intas Foundation, said, “Our objective is to create a safe and supportive environment for cancer patients and empower them with accurate information about cancer and its treatment.”
The programme also included interactive and supportive activities aimed at boosting the morale of patients and their family members, making the event both informative and encouraging for all participants.
