CHANDIGARH: In a grand ceremony celebrating academic and co-curricular excellence, the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, felicitated 53 meritorious students of The Punjab Public School (PPS), Nabha, at the Punjab Lok Bhavan today. The students were recognized across various categories, including batch toppers, stream toppers, and high achievers in the ISC, ICSE, and CAIE examinations.
Governor Kataria, who also serves as the Chairman of the School Board, commended the students’ discipline and dedication, while acknowledging the vital role played by teachers and parents in guiding them toward success.
Massive Financial Boost for Infrastructure and Sports
Emphasizing the necessity of modernizing educational infrastructure to meet contemporary standards, the Governor announced substantial financial backing for the school:

₹1 Crore Grant: Allocated immediately for immediate infrastructure development.

₹5 Crore Additional Support: Promised from various auxiliary sources for a comprehensive school facelift.

₹10 Lakh Sports Grant: Sanctioned specifically for the development of dedicated pickleball sports infrastructure following a request from the Headmaster.
Stellar Academic Performance Breakdown
The Governor highly lauded the academic benchmarks set by the institution’s latest graduating cohorts:

ISC (Class 12) Highlights: All 99 appearing students cleared the examination with distinction, yielding a flawless 100% distinction rate and an impressive batch average of 91%. Nearly 60% of the batch scored above 90%, with 34 students securing perfect scores in subjects like Chemistry, Political Science, Computer Science, Punjabi, and Physical Education.

ICSE (Class 10) Highlights: Out of 103 students, 68 passed with distinction, maintaining a solid batch average of 80.3%. Perfect scores were achieved by 22 students in Punjabi, Biology, Computer Applications, and Geography.
Dominance in Sports and Extracurriculars
Beyond academics, PPS Nabha’s stellar athletic track record was brought to the forefront. The school has secured the 4th position in national school rankings this year.
The Governor praised the school’s Under-14 and Under-19 Hockey Teams for winning the All India IPSC Hockey Championships. He further highlighted the extraordinary feat of the Horse Riding Team, which bagged 77 medals (including 27 gold) at the Delhi Horse Show and triumphed at the All India IPSC Equestrian Championship. To sustain this momentum, the Governor announced cash rewards for academic toppers and fresh financial incentives for the school’s hockey and equestrian athletes.
A Vision for National Service and ‘Viksit Bharat’
Addressing the youth, Shri Kataria emphasized that the student community carries the responsibility of realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He challenged the school to recapture its historical legacy by aiming for the number-one spot nationally in academics and continuing its rich tradition of preparing elite officers for the country’s defense forces. Concluding his address, he issued a strong call to action, urging the youth to utilize their innovation for social welfare and remain strictly away from drugs to help eliminate the menace from society.
