NEW DELHI — The Ministry of Ayush on Friday reported that more than 10,000 complaints have been registered on the Ayush Suraksha Portal since its inception, underscoring the government’s aggressive push to curb misleading advertisements and ensure safety within traditional medicine systems.
The information was officially disclosed by Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, in a written reply presented in the Lok Sabha.
Portal Statistics and Core Purpose Launched on May 30, 2025, the IT-enabled platform features a centralized dashboard designed to track objectionable marketing and monitor health risks related to Ayush products. The portal’s data-driven approach aims to facilitate prompt regulatory action across the country.
To date, the portal has recorded:
-
Misleading Advertisements: 10,269 complaints.
-
Adverse Drug Reactions: 216 suspected cases reported.
State-wise Action and Repeat Offenders The Ministry confirmed that all complaints received through the portal have been immediately forwarded to the concerned state and Union Territory authorities for necessary action. Response levels have varied across the country, with some states reporting full disposal of cases while others remain in the processing phase.
-
Maharashtra: Led the nation with over 1,100 complaints, all of which have already been successfully processed and acted upon.
-
Other High-Reporting States: Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi also recorded a significant volume of cases.
Notably, the government’s tracking system has successfully identified instances of repeat offenders in certain states, leading to targeted regulatory action based directly on the portal’s compiled data.
Ensuring Accountability in Traditional Medicine The ongoing success of the Ayush Suraksha Portal highlights the government’s broader strategy to enforce strict accountability and strengthen the regulation of the promotion and use of alternative medicine systems, including Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy.
