NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday highlighted the transformative role of women in India’s development journey over the past 12 years, asserting that the NDA government’s policies and initiatives have placed women at the center of nation-building and economic progress.
Marking what he described as a decade-plus of focused efforts toward “women-led development,” the Prime Minister stated that the government’s approach has actively gone beyond mere welfare to concentrate on creating real opportunities, ensuring dignity, and empowering women across all sectors of society.
Empowering ‘Nari Shakti’ Across Sectors
In a post on X, PM Modi shared that the exceptional achievements of Indian women are now highly visible across a wide range of fields.
“Over the last 12 years, the NDA Government has worked to further women-led development. And, this is visible across sectors,” the Prime Minister stated.
He noted that the government’s initiatives have helped create a robust ecosystem where women can realize their full potential. “From financial inclusion and entrepreneurship to education, healthcare, sanitation, housing, sports, science and governance, women are playing a prominent role across diverse sectors,” PM Modi added. He emphasized that the government’s efforts are deeply rooted in the core principles of dignity, opportunity, and empowerment, enabling women to emerge as key drivers of social and economic transformation.
Rising Presence in STEM and Economic Independence
Highlighting women’s growing participation in emerging and high-technology sectors, PM Modi expressed particular satisfaction at their increasing presence in science, space, innovation, and drone technology. He emphasized that their growing participation in these future-ready fields is opening new avenues of opportunity and rapidly transforming the development landscape across the nation.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister underlined the critical role of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in strengthening women’s economic independence. He stated that the government continues to actively support SHGs, which have become a major force in enhancing financial empowerment and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for millions of women nationwide.
The Foundation of Civilizational Progress
In a subsequent post, PM Modi paid profound tribute to India’s women, describing them as the foundational pillar of the nation’s progress. Sharing a traditional Sanskrit Subhashitam, he emphasized the timeless importance of women in society and civilization—describing them as the creators and sustainers of the world, and the true embodiment of divine power, or Shakti.
“India’s Nari Shakti is the cornerstone of nation-building. Our mothers, sisters, and daughters are today enhancing the glory of Mother India with their extraordinary talent and skills in every field,” he remarked.
The Prime Minister’s remarks align closely with the government’s continued emphasis on flagship women-centric programs launched over the past decade, including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, and the Lakhpati Didi initiative, all aimed at expanding opportunities and improving the quality of life for women across the country.
