MOHALI: In an emotional celebration of courage, perseverance, and unconditional love, ten inspirational mothers were honored at the 13th “Maa Samman Samaroh” held at the Manav Mangal Smart School in Sector-88, Mohali. The prestigious event was jointly organized by the Manav Mangal Group of Schools and the Dr. G.C. Mishra Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust.
Punjab Governor and UT Chandigarh Administrator, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He felicitated these extraordinary women who turned their children’s dreams into reality despite facing immense personal, financial, and social hardships.
Every honoree carried a unique story of unwavering commitment to securing a better future for their children. The awardees included Palwinder Kaur, Raj Kumari, and Sunaina Devi from Chandigarh; Manjeet Kaur from Budhlada; Manpreet Sharma from Mohali; Anju Bhatia from New Chandigarh; Ginni from Karnal; and Baljeet Kaur from Kurukshetra.
A profoundly moving special honor was conferred upon Manjeet Kaur, the mother of Colonel Manpreet Singh of Mullapur, who was martyred during an anti-terror operation in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, Rita Das from SOS Children’s Village India, Rajpura, was bestowed with the prestigious “Mother of the Year” award in recognition of her extraordinary compassion and commitment to nurturing children.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Kataria described the ceremony as an inspiring initiative for society. He emphasized that a mother’s place remains supreme, lauding their unmatched courage and sacrifice. He noted that even in the harshest circumstances, a mother works tirelessly to ensure her children rise to become achievers in life, remaining devoted to their well-being forever.
The event also featured the release of a special coffee table book by the Chief Guest, dedicated to the 50-year life and work journey of senior journalist, author, and social worker Mayank Mishra, the Managing Trustee of the organizing trust. The ceremony was made even more special by a heartfelt cultural program presented by the students of Manav Mangal Smart School-64, paying beautiful tribute to the irreplaceable role of a mother.
